Whakaora's innovative psychological therapy programme is dedicated to making high-quality EMDR therapy accessible across the motu. We offer comprehensive EMDR therapy to clients throughout New Zealand, providing a supportive and effective path to healing. Our services also extend to workplaces, delivering expert care following critical incidents, and we proudly support clients with ACC Sensitive Claims.
For Clients
Our mission is to improve access to EMDR therapy, helping people recover from trauma efficiently and effectively. Led by experienced clinical psychologists, Whakaora follows an evidence-based group therapy model. We believe in the power of collective healing—whiria te tāngata, weaving people together through shared experience and support.
For Employers
Whakaora offers a clinically validated programme designed to support employee mental health with real, effective therapy. Our data-backed approach includes pre-, mid-, and post-treatment assessments, ensuring transparency and measurable outcomes. With flexible delivery—both in-person and online—we provide nationwide coverage and rapid response to crisis events, helping to prevent the development of posttraumatic symptoms.
For Our Communities
We are committed to helping Kiwis recover from major events that have impacted Aotearoa. Whakaora proudly supports Trauma Aid Aotearoa, working to bring EMDR therapy to those who need it most.
For Our Colleagues
Whakaora has been privileged to present at national and international conferences, including the 2022, 2023, and 2024 EMDR New Zealand Conferences, the 2023 APS NZPsS Member Symposium, and the 2024 NZPsS Annual Conference. In 2024, we also shared our work at the TEP IN New Zealand Symposium. We look forward to engaging in further presentations and collaborations in 2025—please get in touch if you’d like to discuss how we can contribute to your event.
EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviours resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process.
